What an absolutely glorious morning Sunday brought for the Whitehorse Spring Festival! We couldn’t have asked for better weather, and with our stall facing east, we enjoyed the morning sunshine followed by welcome afternoon shade—perfect! Once our stand was set up, Judith and Ray Mcleod Dryden from Box Hill Burwood kindly took the reins. We had already given away two bags of toys donated by EERN and invited the grateful mum to complete our survey, so the day was off to a wonderfully positive start.
Our members truly embody the spirit of community service, often wearing several volunteer hats at once. Gabby was busy at the EERN table, Ben was representing Neighbourhood Watch, and past member Neil was lending a hand at the Community Garden stand. Susan had also been there earlier, helping Lions prepare their sausage sizzle. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who gave their time and energy—you are a wonderful reminder of what we can achieve when we work together. I’m sure it was a sensationally fun and rewarding day for all!
This Wednesday night marks an exciting milestone: our first Youth Achievement Award night, where we will proudly recognise seven Grade 6 students from our local primary schools. If you haven’t registered yet, please do—we would love you to join us in celebrating these inspiring young people and cheering them on. We’ll be in the Atrium Room at the Blackburn Hotel; when you arrive, simply enter and turn left instead of right. It promises to be a truly uplifting evening!

A year later Steve and Diane, his wife, set up their own business, marketing flue brushes etc to retailers who sold wood heaters, many of whom also sold BBQs, outdoor furniture & camping equipment. Though family support, the work challenges of travel in Australia and overseas, with over 800 customers in specialist stores and hardwear groups, the business successfully continued until sold in November 2022. The 60th Whitehorse Art Show is a milestone event, and are seeking your support to help make it our most successful show yet.
This year, proceeds from our event, raffles and auctions will support WERS (Whitehorse Emergency Relief Services), an organisation that provides vital assistance to local individuals and families facing hardship. Every contribution helps us increase the support we can provide to those in need within our community.
The Art Show Committee has been working tirelessly to create a memorable celebration of this remarkable 60-year tradition, and we'd love to have you join us for the Gala Dinner. Co President Lyndon Smith and I would be delighted if your rotary club would consider supporting our 2026 Rotary Whitehorse Art Show by booking a table for our Gala Dinner on Wednesday 28th October 2026
It promises to be a fantastic evening featuring:
A delicious two-course meal
Wine and soft drinks
Great fellowship and fun
Special guest MC Jonathan Usher, New Zealand's magician extraordinaire
Most importantly, your attendance helps support both the Art Show and the community organisations that benefit from its success.
