A timely reminder:

May 16th:           International Day of Living Together in Peace

The UN General-Assembly, in its resolution 72/130, declared 16 May the International Day of Living Together in Peace, as a means of regularly mobilizing the efforts of the international community to promote peace, tolerance, inclusion, understanding and solidarity. The Day aims to uphold the desire to live and act together, united in differences and diversity, in order to build a sustainable world of peace, solidarity and harmony.

May 16 2022 is also Vesak day - a day when Buddhists celebrate the
Birth, Enlightenment and Death of the Lord Buddha.

REPORTS
Support for visiting Fijian workers

from Shia Smart

Last week, we asked for donations of winter clothing or cash to purchase the same for visiting Fijian workers  who were unprepared for our Melbourne winter!
Shia sent me these pictures and report:
  • The picture of the people and the clothes are all the items which were donated from the multiple Rotary Op Shops and EERN which were asked for donations.
  • The picture of all the clothes, are the clothes which were bought with cash donations from RC Nunawading members.
  • The final picture is myself with some of the Fijians and the hygiene kits which we as Whitehorse Rotarians donated (they were left over from the R100 Celebrations).  The Fijians who received our donations were overwhelmed by the generosity of strangers and were very thankful for all the items they received.
