What a wonderful night we shared on Wednesday, with members from RC Maroondah joining our meeting. The room was alive with conversation and connection as our two clubs came together to support the sale of RC Maroondah Trailer Raffle tickets at Eastland throughout December.
As Andrew showed us, the Eastland roster is now open—and every helping hand will make a difference. Choose a time that suits you and join in: Eastland Rotary Christmas Trailer Raffle 2026. Click here now to SIGN UP: https://signup.com/go/aPnUmbt
For every person representing Nunawading—including partners and friends who are very welcome to help—our club receives a share of the profits from tickets sold on the days we attend. If you have some time to spare, please consider joining the roster and lending a hand. It is a fantastic opportunity for Rotary to be visible, active and connected in our community. RC Maroondah has built a wonderful relationship with Eastland, and the trailer raffle has been running for more than 35 years, with loyal supporters returning year after year to buy their tickets.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped with Bunnings on Saturday. It truly takes a team, with so much work happening behind the scenes to ensure the Bunnings BBQ runs smoothly on the day. Your time, energy and teamwork are greatly appreciated—thank you to every person involved.
This Wednesday, we are delighted to welcome PDG Colin, who will speak with us about the Red Energy Project. We have already seen the positive difference this project can make, having received a grant to support the training of volunteer staff at the Brickworks Dementia Café.
For our Youth Achievement Award show bags, we would like to include copies of the Sept/Oct RDU magazine. Thank you to those who have given me their magazines, we are still a few short, so, once you have enjoyed yours, please pass it on to me.
Wishing you a sensationally fun week ahead as we continue to share kindness, enjoy fellowship, and Create Lasting Impact together.
October Rotary Theme is Economic and Community Development.
As Rotary members, we share the same goal: make meaningful change in communities around the world. Some of the most difficult challenges to make a difference for the good of all are ending polio. Rotary has been working to eradicate polio for more than 45 years, and our goal of ridding the Earth of this disease is within reach. We started in 1979 with vaccinations for 6 million children in the Philippines. Today, Afghanistan and Pakistan are the only countries where polio remains endemic.

Last Saturday saw a great and close game between the Brisbane Lions and the Freemantle Dockers!
Many wanted the Dockers to win their first Grand Final since 1995 but the seasonal Lions were too good on the day. There were 22 starters with 12 going for Brisbane and 10 going to Freemantle. The half score was 43 points each which provided a complication as no one had picked the result. Resulting to move the $200 pool to the full-time result. The final score was a nail-biter with the result decided in the last 2 minutes of the game! The Lions snatching the result after the Dockers leading up to the last 2 minutes.
The final result - Brisbane Lions 96, Freemantle Dockers 89, a margin of 7 points.
The tipped scores for the full time provided an extended result with 6 winners being as follows:
No-one tipped Brisbane by 7 points
First Prize being $120 for Brisbane by 6 points (1 off): Peter S
Second prize being $40 for Brisbane by 9 points (2 off): John L.
Third prize being $15 each for Brisbane by 10 point (3 off) being Althea and Steve B.
Finally, equal 3rd prize being $15 each for Brisbane by 4 points (also 3 off) being Gabby K and Jenny T ( Jenny and Colin entering while on a cruise in Bordeaux).
