LAST WEDNESDAY
Shia Smart
The Road to DG

I did not attend last Wednesday's meeting, and am grateful to Shia for sending me her power point presentation from which I have extracted the information below.

Shia was District Governor  of 9810 in the 2019- 2020 Rotary year.

Her road to DG began with Rotaract, and her Rotary journey continued when she became a very active member of the Rotary Club of MASH  (Mont Albert and Surrey Hills). She is now a member of the Rotary Club of Nunawading.

Shia outlined her reasons for taking on this responsibility. Her presentation encompassed the application, interview and selection process as well as the preparation and training she undertook on her way.

In her DG Nominee year, she learned 'how things work', selected her team (Secretary - our own Judith Eadon), introduced herself at every club in District , started planning what the DG year would look like and attended Zone Training and Conferences.

In her DG Elect year, she attended a District training Assembly which included training for Presidents Elect, finalised selection of AG’s and District Board, created a calendar of District Visits and prepared for Changeover.

The DG Family project was Books in Homes.

Grand Final Club Night

on Wednesday 22nd September
Covid restrictions will ensure we celebrate the evening via zoom

GUEST SPEAKER:  Brock McLean

SUBJECT:                All Things Football

Members :                Please wear your Club colours and participate in the night's events.

We plan to have a series of competitions to pick the winning team and margin, first goal kicker and Norm Smith medallist.
I will publish some entry forms and more details for the evening - so watch this space!
Warrnambool Weekend

Your Fellowship Committee has been investigating the above.
Planned originally for 15 -18 October 21.
Train  and car travel are being considered on the Friday.
3 nights accommodation in Warrnambool.
Day trip to Port Fairy and lunch on the Saturday and local Warrnambool sites on the Sunday, returning Monday morning

Covid continues to play havoc in finalising arrangements but the big picture is in place. The likelihood of the planned October timing remains doubtful like most things Covid but we are keen to have this weekend for members even we have to move to the New Year with February/ March timing.
I will publish a request for those interested in the train travel option. Seniors can use their card for this trip but need a travel voucher to secure  free travel. I will post a clubrunner request shortly to establish those members for the train travel and those with vouchers to access a free return trip. Car travel is an option and provides some flexibility for moving around Warrnambool and visiting Port Fairy. I will be in touch shortly
