Mike's Message
Hello all,

A short one this week. First, a recap of the fantastic presentation by Robyn Stephens and Marge, from St John Ambulance. They gave us some background on the service and then a demonstration of the basics of CPR and AED use.

Importantly, they shared the message that any useful help to keep somebody alive while waiting for an ambulance is better than doing nothing, and that a few broken ribs is worth keeping the blood oxygenated. Extending this message further into the world of Rotary is pretty easy. While there are a few technical areas like sanitation and water that require a huge amount of expertise, there's usually something even a layperson can do to help move things in the right direction, and that's what it's all about.

Don't forget the Trivia Night at the end of the month and the Egg and Bacon stall and Mothers Day on Sunday.

See you Wednesday when we'll hear from the principal of Aurora School, Mel Slocombe.

St John Ambulance Volunteers

Robyn and Marge are volunteers with St John Ambulance. They spoke to us at our last meeting about the work that they do at sporting events, community functions and anywhere else where first responders are required. Robyn is also engaged in presenting to pre-schoolers on basic First Aid. Marge is currently undertaking a research project on why females are less likely than males to be resuscitated when an AED is available.

They also explained the St John Action Plan shown opposite.

KitchenAid products from Coles

For those of you who shop at Coles, you may know there is a KitchenAid program running at the moment where you can get credits and trade them in for saucepans, frying pans etc.  You can't accumulate credits after 12 May 2026 and have to trade them in by 19 May 2026.

If anyone has credits that they wish to use, and you are happy to donate the items, Eastern Emergency Relief Network would be very grateful for the 2-utensil kitchen packs (pictured). You can get a pack for 20 credits.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Bunnings Sausage Sizzle - May 2, 2026

A big thank you to all who assisted and supported our last Bunnings effort. The final profit was - $1,919.61.

I hope we can be as successful in June when the weather might be cooler. It is not just the people who cook  and serve but there are also people who do tasks that assist us.
The onions, cut and ready to caramelise don't just magically appear. Thanks to our onion champs.

The drinks, clean and dry, organised in small car fridges, don't just jump in.. Thanks Janette.

Graeme did a great job creating our roster. Next time, we will add an extra cook to the 10 to 12 shift... We were very busy then.

Bunnings want us to clean off the fat tray and take away the "fat and the "fat sorb". The clean tray can then be refilled with Fat Sorb.

Again, Thanks to all who contributed to our successful day.
