   Shia's Message
Hello all,
Wednesday brought another truly inspiring occasion at this week’s meeting and as you brought your hats to help us Lift the Lid on Mental Health. Lift the Lid on Mental Illness is Australian Rotary Health’s overarching campaign brand for mental health research. Over $2 MILLION has been raised for mental health research since 2016 when the campaign began!
Each year approximately 1-in-5 Australians will experience a mental illness and to help future generations of young Australians, we need to look ahead through research and discover how we can prevent this type of illness occurring.
Now, we can start meaningful conversations, listen, show our support and remind one another that mental health matters.

The Brickworks Dementia Café was on Wednesday, 28th October, a donation of delicious food was provided by Silvana and Shia. Every contribution—large or small—helps create a warm and welcoming experience for those attending.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped at Bunnings on Saturday! From the preparation beforehand to the teamwork on the day, every contribution makes a difference. Your time, energy and enthusiasm show what we can achieve together.
Good luck to everyone taking part in the Cup Sweep organised by Harvey! May your horse give you plenty to cheer about.
Wishing you a wonderfully fun and fulfilling week ahead. Let’s keep sharing kindness, celebrating fellowship and working together to Create Lasting Impact in our community.
Hat Day

“Lift the Lid - Hat Day”

As a focus on mental health research a Lift the Lid - Hat Day was held at our recent meeting in support of Australian Rotary Health’s vital mental health and general health initiatives.

Members were encouraged to wear a hat to participate. Hat Day was a fun and meaningful way to engage and raise awareness. Donation on the day were $52.95.

Mental Illness in one way or another, affects one in five Australians, and through Australian Rotary Health initiatives, we can help fund prevention, early intervention, and education programs that change lives.

Australian Rotary Health has a fresh look, a clearer voice, the first signs of a new public face beginning to emerge. ARH is calling it -our "glow up".  District 9815 ARH committee meets quarterly by Zoom and our mission is to work with clubs to strengthen the impact of Australian Rotary Health.

Australian Rotary Health is a national program of Rotary and is one of the success stories of Rotary in Australia. ARH’s achievements over the past 45 years over $56M raised and invested in, 741 Research Grants and 874 Scholarships funded.

Melbourne Cup Sweep

All 48 entries to our planned Blue and Red  Club sweeps have been filled.

These were done in order of member contact and discussion with some members directly. The Cup is run next Tuesday 3rd November
The first Tuesday in November has come around quickly this year. Harvey thanks everybody who participated and apologises to those who were a bit slow off the mark and missed out
Harvey has emailed the draw results for the Blue and Red Sweeps. They show, members / partners names and the horse number drawn for each entrant. We will not know until the weekend the final list of runners and possible scratchings or substitutes.
For clarity, the number you see on these sweep lists is the number the horse will carry on its saddle cloth and not the barrier they are starting from. Barriers will not be known until after Saturday races have finished and are of important for the top horses to draw well. There are plenty of good overseas horses starting this year.
As always , a winner is hard to pick.

Prices for each sweep are $80 1st $30 2nd $10 3rd being 24 horses @ $5 = $120

The best of luck, strong fellowship and good times wherever you are for this  " Race That Stops The Nation" in 2026!
