The presence of Covid and its Victoria state rules restricted both our Fellowship and Fundraising activities and forced our Committee to cancel many planned events or conduct them, at arm’s length via zoom
A Calendar of events was put together in July and a zoom F&F committee meeting held to look at the planned timing, location and Covid restrictions. After closer examination and deliberation the Committee decided to either hold the event, transfer it to later in the year or cancel the event outright.
The Rotary Club of Nunawading is collecting unwanted, non-prescribed sunglasses for a Rotary supported Ocular Surgical Program in Ethiopia called “Eyes for Africa”.
Eyes for Africa is an Australian not-for-profit, non-government, non-denominational, sight-restoring charitable foundation founded in 2007 by Melbourne Ophthalmic nurse Julie Tyers who wanted to 'make a difference' by treating preventable blindness. She has spoken to our Club.
Ms Tyres plans to visit Ethiopia , now in late January 2023 ,to work with two volunteer surgeons to perform approximately 600 cataract operations over a four week period.
