Service Above Self

The Rotary Club of Nunawading is a service club in the Whitehorse local government area of Victoria, Australia and is part of the global network of Rotary clubs around the world.

RCN works locally, nationally and internationally to manage and support service projects that help others and improve the world, everything from eliminating polio to cleaning up Blackburn Lake Sanctuary.

Can you make a small financial contribution
to support our service to the community?
Club News
Our club is now registered for the People's Choice Community Lottery. Ticket sales are all online. 100 per cent of the money from ticket sales will come to the club and all funds raised will be used to support Books in Homes, which club member and past DG Shia mentioned in her 2 November talk.
Playground Collection - September

On 1st and 2nd September Rob, Len, Colin Read, Gabby (Thursday) and a few Eastern Emergency Relief Network (EERN) volunteers who also drove the EERN truck collected playgrounds from
  • Cootamundra Walk Blackburn
  • Warekila Reserve Play Space - Corner Busana Way and Kett Street Nunawading
They were taken to John Arena’s property in Kilsyth for storage until they are able to be shipped overseas.

Thanks to Rob for coordinating in Bob Allardice's absence and to Len and Colin who assisted on both days.  Special thanks to Phil Senyard who drove the EERN truck and assisted on both days and to other EERN volunteers Mike Wilson, Greg Loats and Ian Teese.

Coral Page was last week's speaker (25 May). Coral has been president of Waverley Garden Club for over five years, and she shared some tips on how to keep a community organisation thriving during tough times as well as her top three bits of advice for creating and improving your own garden--the insights might even overlap.
from Bob Allardice

  • The Citizens Park playgrounds have been delayed, probably till after school holidays.  It is likely that we will be asked to dismantle at short notice.
  • Shipping rates have more or less doubled over last year, placing strain on our funding model.  We are looking at various ways to address any shortfalls.
  • The shipping to Egypt is looking less likely as their donor has reneged.

Members are encouraged to make contributions to the Rotary Foundation.

If you are planning to make cash contributions to The Rotary Foundation this financial year, they need to be finalised by the end of May so that details can be submitted. I will be collecting these in person on the 11th and 18th May at our club meetings.
